Hello readers, my name is Soo Min Kang, but I prefer to be called Susie. I was born in a hospital in Seoul, South Korea. With luck, I spent my 8 years of elementary and middle school in the Golden State, or California. I moved back to Korea for high school in Korea International School, which was an interesting new experience. I am now a freshmen currently attending Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Although I hold a Korean passport, I define myself as a third culture kid, meaning that I am a conglomeration of both American and Korean cultural identities. Therefore, I might have a broader range of perspectives, yet might not be as perfectly fit as others classified in either of the two cultures. Since I have spent the last 4 years of high school in one of the most advanced social city, Seoul, I value the efficiency of society and how it affects the everyday lives of citizens. Achieving the highest efficiency is ideal. Although I have not declared my major, my past experiences lead me to material science and engineering. I believe that as a material science engineer, I will be able to invent and create the raw materials of social advancement. As a student of English 101: This Disabled American Life, I will thoroughly examine the pieces that make up our society’s facility for the disabled. This knowledge, then, would be used to innovate and create the ideal environment for the total population. I hope that this website and blog posts will be the perfect tool of communication of my thoughts to society. Please enjoy.
